Supporting All Students
Dear BHRSD Community,
We recognize recent executive orders raise concerns and questions about public education for Berkshire Hills students and families.
All of our children/students deserve a high-quality education that supports both academic excellence and well-being regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, immigration status, disability, religion, or any other identifying characteristic.
We stand by our values, which include focusing on learning, relationships, respect, excellence, and equity. They guide us every day and especially anchor us as we navigate uncertain times. We stand by Massachusetts’ laws which protect students and educators. We intend to use all means necessary to uphold them.
We are committed to maintaining local authority over our curriculum, teaching and learning, and we commit to supporting our teachers and staff as they work to support students.
Education is a fundamental right guaranteed to all children and foundational to our society. A strong and thriving public school system supports learning and growth and drives success, prosperity, and the future of our towns, commonwealth, and nation.
BHRSD will remain focused on our mission to ensure that all students feel safe and supported as we strive to meet students where they are and help them grow.
Peter Dillon, Superintendent
